Cummins L10, M11, ISM, and QSM Series
The Cummins L10 (for 10 liter) was introduced in 1982 to answer the need for a lighter, more compact engine in the European market. It marks the return to an inline design, with the intent to maximize power in a smaller space. The model was discontinued in 1998.
The Cummins M11 (for 10.8 liter displacement) is based of the L10, and was commercialized in 1994. M Series engines have a 6-cylinder inline configuration. As technological advancements were made with electronic controls, the series evolved to include the ISM (Interact System) and QSM (Quantum System) models.
